Wrapping up October

Standard

So I know that it is already nearing the middle of November (crazy, right?!) but I felt like I should still post a blog wrapping up our month of October is for Orphans!

First off I just want to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who reads my blog posts. Thank you to everyone who shares them on social media. Thank you to everyone who commits to pray big circles around these kids. Thank you to everyone who takes a step of faith and sponsors one of these children.

Thank you.

Because without you, none of this would really be possible. Without you there would be one less person getting to know these kids. One less person sharing their stories. One less person praying over them. One less person sponsoring them.

And honestly, they need you. These beautiful, amazing, precious little children of God need you in their lives and in a crazy, amazing way sponsorship allows two very different worlds, two very different places, and two very different people to connect. And honestly, you probably need them too. Maybe even more than they need you…

Like I’ve shared before, these sweet children at the Mole campus orphanage have changed my life. Honestly, everyone I’ve met in Haiti has changed me in some small way, and probably even more than I have changed them. But these little kids in particular have stolen my heart outright. And God has used them to change my heart – to break it wide open in order to allow me to love deeper still. I love this quote by Amy Carmichael and although I definitely have a long way to go in loving people, God has definitely started teaching me this in Haiti.

He said ‘Love… as I have loved you.’ We cannot love too much.”

– Amy Carmichael

John 13:34-35
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

If you haven’t yet made the commitment to join a Family Tree as a sponsor, don’t worry, it’s never too late! A Family Tree isn’t complete without 10 sponsors each pledging $30/month to fully fund a child through NWHCM. And I know that in all the NWHCM programs – the orphanages, the Miriam Center, the Nutrition Program, the neighboring villages, the Birthing Center, and the gran moun home – there is a Family Tree that isn’t complete without you!

So I encourage you to not only continue praying for the kids we circled here on Circle Haiti but also all the individuals connected with the mission and all the ministry they have going on there. Pray big, bold prayers around these precious people and pray that not only will God meet their physical needs but that He will fulfill their deepest spiritual needs.

And along with continuing to circle all our kids in prayer throughout the year, I encourage you to go back through our posts highlighting each of them. Check out the 2014 October category on our blog or go ahead and use the search bar to rediscover posts about a specific child. Read their stories again and pray for them.

Pray over them, pray circles around them, pray Scripture for them, and pray for sponsors for them. Also, pray that God might open your heart to be willing to do whatever it is He is calling you to do – whether that is being a prayer warrior, becoming a sponsor, sharing the stories, or going on a trip – pray that He will give you the strength and faith to follow Him in obedience.

So again, thank you, know we need you, and keep on praying…

Little Woodjerry is a typical adorable little baby and in the short time I’ve known him he has grown so much! He is learning to walk on his own and his brothers, sisters, and mamas help him out any chance they get! He also loves playing games with all his family and they love to make him laugh!

Woodjerry looks up to and loves his older brothers and sisters and they all absolutely adore him! They love playing with him, giving him hugs/kisses, carrying him around, helping him walk, helping him eat, or just making him laugh. It has been adorable to see them all take on the big brother/sister roles and care for their little baby brother.

Today I want to circle this little guy in prayer. I want to pray for the life Woodjerry will have and the man he will one day become. Though he is just a small child now I know that God will move and work big things in his life. I’m praying that Woodjerry will grow up knowing that he is loved, that he would feel the unconditional love of God cover him as well as the love of his family. I pray that little Woodjerry will grow in his faith, that he will come to believe in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. I pray that he will be confident, and steadfast in his beliefs and in who he is, how God sees him.

Psalm 136:1-26
"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods, for his steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures forever; to him who alone does great wonders, for his steadfast love endures forever; to him who by understanding made the heavens, for his steadfast love endures forever"

Currently, little Woodjerry has 6 open spots for sponsors in his Family Tree! Would you consider joining a Family Tree through NWHCM and sponsoring a child for only $30/month. Your pledge will go toward caring for this child’s basic needs – their nutrition, education, medical, housing, and clothing needs. Today is our last day to feature one of our precious orphans in the Mole, would you please prayerfully consider sponsoring one of these kids? Check out Woodjerry’s Family Tree site here to commit to be his sponsor or check out the posts on all our other kids under the 2014 October post category and considering sponsoring one of them!

Caleb
Key Feature: those lips
Faves: running, playing ball,
sleeping, taking silly photos

BFFs: Sony, Djivensky, Presley
# of sponsors needed: 9

Let me introduce you to a fairly new addition to the Mole family!

Caleb is one spunky kid! With more personality and joy than his little frame can probably hold, this little boy is unlike anyone you’ve probably met before!

Caleb loves being held and hanging out with all the new friends he makes! He is content to sit on your lap and is likely to fall asleep, worn out from all that running around campus he does!

Besides making new friends, Caleb really enjoys hanging out with his older brothers! Although it could be hard to bring someone new into your family, the kids here have welcomed him in and taken care of him as their little brother!

Although this little guy has experienced a lot in his life, he still has such joy! Caleb was abandoned by his family before the mission took him in and they estimate that he is a lot older than his little body suggests. But today he is overcoming growing healthier and bigger and is finally growing into his body! This little boy has such a laugh and one of the biggest smiles you’ll ever see! He lights up the room with joy when he smiles!

Today I want to circle this little guy in prayer. I pray that God would continue to watch over and protect him. I pray that he will continue to grow closer to his brothers and sisters and that God will grow his love for them. I pray that they would all stand together, through thick and thin, and that God would knit their hearts together. I pray would grow Caleb’s love and joy and that he would be able to share those traits with more and more people as he grows bigger and older.

Colossians 2:2
"that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ"

Being fairly new to our mission family, Caleb is in need of a lot of sponsors! He has 9 bare branches in his Family Tree! That’s a lot of room for more sponsors to get involved! Would you consider joining this sweet boy’s family of support? Would you pledge $30/month or more to help care for this child? Would you commit to pray circles around him as he grows older?

Joining a Family Tree through NWHCM is unlike most other sponsorship programs. A Family Tree allows you to partner with other sponsors to form a fully funded tree of support for a child, featuring 10 sponsors. Not only will you connect with this child as they grow up but you will also be able to connect with the other sponsors through a special Facebook group. The ultimate goal with this is to come alongside this child and fully support them and pray for them.

Go check out Caleb’s Family Tree site here and fill in one of those many empty branches in his tree of support!

Today is the day to circle this precious girl!

Aimé Mirlene Decembre
Birth date: 10/11/11
Faves: playing with her sisters,
braiding hair, tickling, hugs

# of sponsors needed:

Let me introduce you to a sweet daughter of God!

Aimé, also called Mirlene, is one of the quieter kids at the orphanage, she’s not the first to run out when teams are visiting or there are new friends. Aimé will instead hang back, she is pretty confident and independent. She will do her own thing, playing by herself or her older sisters or just hanging out with the orphanage mamas. But just because she can seem shy sometimes, Aimé is ready to be a great friend if you’ll spend some time getting to know her!

Aimé likes to be held or give hugs! Although she is content sitting quietly on your lap, watch out she can also be super silly and might even start a tickle war!

As you get to know Aimé, her silly side starts to come out more and more! She has an adorable smile and a little laugh that will just brighten your day! As she has grown older, she has started to develop her own unique personality more and more and she is just full of sweetness and joy!

This sweet little girl has a lot of compassion for others and she absolutely adores this big family she’s a part of. She looks up to the mamas and her sisters and they will sit with her and try to teach her how to brush and braid their dolls’ hair.

Today I want to pray for this dear child and that she would grow to know the love that God has for her. I pray she would truly grab a hold of the truth that God loves her immeasurably and unconditionally, that nothing could separate her from this love. I pray that as she grows closer to Christ that her life will continue to produce the fruit of a Christian life and that she will grow to know a deeper joy and love still. I pray that God would shine through this little girl’s life and that she would have people step up to partner with her and encourage and pray for her throughout her life.

Ephesians 3:17-19
"so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."

Aimé has at least 1 spot in her Family Tree right now! But as I’ve said with upcoming changes and some sponsors redistributing their support, there is a greater need for sponsorship in the future! So if one or more of you feel called by God to support this sweet girl with $30/month, please go check out Aimé’s Family Tree site here and learn more!

31 // Rovenson

Standard

So we didn’t have a post yesterday for Halloween, but don’t worry, just because October is officially over doesn’t mean that our October is for Orphans theme is over! We still have more kids to circle around in prayer!

And today we are featuring this cutie!

Rovenson Charles
Birth date: 09/27/09
Key Feature: sheepish grin
Faves: balloons!, running, sugar cane,
making silly faces, playing games
BFFs: all the bros
# of sponsors needed: 3

Let me introduce you to this little buddy of mine!

Rovenson is one hilarious kid! As this little guy has been getting bigger he is definitely enjoying his freedom and ability to run around campus and play games with his older brothers and sisters! He enjoys hanging out with his brothers and just having fun together.

And he loves to play with balloons! This kid will not have a bigger smile on his face than when he is playing with balloons; he loves it!

Another favorite activity of Rovenson’s is to make silly faces or just make-up his own goofy stories or games. Although he can be a little camera shy, this kid does have a million dollar smile and a great sheepish grin!

This is a sweet boy with a huge heart! Though he can sometimes be a troublemaker or a bit grumpy, this little guy has grown up so much these past few years. He loves being held and sitting with people or playing games but he especially likes hanging out with his older brothers. He looks up to them all so much and loves them.

Rovenson and I became best buddies very early on during my first summer in Haiti. This kid has stolen a large chunk of my heart! However, the past few trips I haven’t been able to spend much time with him. There are other people, other teams, and although he will sometimes still come to hang with me a lot of times he gravitates toward meeting these new faces. This has been hard but also sweet to see him especially want to hang out with the guys that come in on teams, he desires the influence of godly men in his life. I’ll be honest, all of it has been hard for me. But God has used this little silly boy to break open my heart and allow me to love deeper still and to also know how to love but let go to God.

Rovenson is not mine. He is not my child, ultimately he is a child of God. I can’t hold tightly to any of these sweet children. That doesn’t mean I don’t love them deeply and that my heart doesn’t break being away from them, because it does. Every single day.

I miss this child and I love him and I pray for him, and for all these precious kids, but I know that he is in God’s hands and that I can enjoy just being a part of this journey by coming alongside him. Ultimately, I’m just along for the ride, I can’t hijack God’s plans for this little guy’s life or try to mold him into who I want him to be. But I can love him as Christ loves him and cover him in prayer.

I’m amazed that God places so many wonderful people in our lives for us to love and hold for this short time.

And I’m even more in awe that God holds all these people in His hands and that He loves all His children for all eternity.

So today I’m praying for this sweet boy, I’m praying that he will become the godly man that God wants him to be. I pray that he will be open to God’s plans for his life and that he will follow the Lord’s leading. I pray God will continually chip away at Rovenson’s pride or selfishness and mold him more and more into the image of Christ. I pray he finds his freedom in Christ and uses it to exhibit joy and strength in his life. I pray he treats all God’s children with equal respect and compassion. I pray that God will shine through this young boy’s heart to show the love of Christ to the people of this world.

1 Peter 2:16-17
"Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor."

And I’m praying for all our kids, as we roll into this new month of November, that even when these kids aren’t with us or aren’t on our minds that we will know that God is always watching over them and that He loves them more than any of us could love, that He loves them with a “Never Stopping, Never Giving Up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love.”

Rovenson’s Family Tree has 3 spots open right now for sponsors! That means he needs 3 more people to pledge $30/month of support to care for this little boy and partner with his other sponsors to create a fully funded Family Tree of 10 sponsors!
